The Santa Clara Community Foundation is jumping through permit and insurance hoops, so they can begin renovations on the old schoolhouse in the park behind Madison. Unfortunately, until they can get going on the project, the schoolhouse sits. It's been the target of some vandalism, and we'd all hoping to try to stop that. They've asked us to share this with both parents & students:
Did you know the boarded up house in the park behind Madison was built in 1904 as a one room schoolhouse? That was where all the area kids went to school! There is a community group working to rehabilitate it and make it a community center for all of us to use. We'll have a place for concerts, family reunions, gatherings, and meeting space.
We'd love your help with the project once it gets going. For now we need your help keeping an eye on the house and reporting any vandalism you see. The more damage it sustains, the longer and more difficult it is for us to rebuild it. You can make a difference and help create a great resource for kids and adults alike.
